Syrian Brown Bear

Leaving in Turkey, Iran and Iraq, the Syrian Brown Bear is threatened by large-scale forest fragmentation, degradation of habitat, and persecution in areas where it damages beehives and livestock. Local people in the Black Sea region hunt bears illegally for bear fat, which is thought to have medicinal value.

It was walking in circles until I arrived. I had just the time to snap that picture before he continued its infinit walk…

Frozen Antlers

Antlers are extensions of an animal's skull found in members of the Cervidae (deer) family. Antlers are a single structure composed of bone, cartilage, fibrous tissue, skin, nerves, and blood vessels. They are generally found only on males, with the exception of reindeer or caribou. Antlers are shed and regrown each year and function primarily as objects of sexual attraction and as weapons in fights between males for control of harems.

Frozen Red Deer

I was quietly waiting this red deer to stop eating grass and look up at me, when a large family arrived near the enclosure. They made noises, big gestures and tried to touch the animal. The deer came directly to them and started to hit the fence with its antlers as a sign of dominance and intimidation. The family found that really funny and continued their behavior with even more energy for 5 more minutes.

When they left, the deer turned to me, walked straight to where I was, quietly, and made a stop 1 meter from me. He just stood here, looking at me with this deep look full of serenity. I felt pierced by it and had just the ability to take one picture of this strange encounter. He, then, turned away and went back to its cover.

The Walk

Sometimes you need to go outside even if the weather is against you. This day was a snowstorm day, but I had the chance to understand that Foxes suffer as well from these conditions !

Artic Wolf

When I first approched them, they just didn’t give a glance at me. Then, after 15 to 20 minutes, they started asking themself why I was staying here. This is the time when one of the Artic Wolves, came close and looked at me for several second.
